Theme change and other procrastinatory gubbins
Hey look! I changed my blog’s theme again! This is a bit of a boring theme, but the plan is to mess with it a bit. Make it a little more colourful while still keeping true to the minimalist ethic. Or something like that. What this change certainly isn’t about is another way to avoid actually working.
Speaking of not working, I have been playing Conquer Club recently. It doesn’t take up that much time, which is nice. But I suck at risk. So it’s hard. But it’s fun. Another displacement activity will consist in part two of ‘how to avoid doing any work‘ so look out for that in the near future.
My concession to actual work today has been in the form of taking four weighty tomes out of the library and downloading about 8 articles from Studies in the History and Philosophy of Modern Physics. Incidentally, that is abbreviated to Stud. Hist. Phil. Mod. Phys. I have also decided to change my topic for Philosophy of Maths and use my old Maths topic as a possible dissertation subject.Oh and I read half a paper. And I’ll read the other half of that paper and maybe another one today. So I am getting something done… Sort of…
My room is messy because Cyrodil is a nicer place to be than Luxembourg
So I’m listening to lullabies to paralyse at the moment. It’s pretty good. Haven’t heard it in a while. Never liked it as much as songs for the deaf, but I didn’t listen to it half as much, so I am giving it another chance.
Saw Shrek 3 a couple of days ago. Wasn’t as disappointed and some people seem to have been by it. It had some funny moments. Going to see Die Hard 4.0 tonight. I am really hoping that it is amazing. It really should be.
I have an English version of Oblivion now. So I’ve been playing that pretty much all the time. I should probably unpack at some stage, but I can’t be bothered. There’s nowhere to put all my stuff. Basically, my stuff to space ratio is above one, so I can’t fit it all in. It’s just in loads of boxes scattered around my room. I will be taking some of the junk back to England in September, which makes me even less inclined to find places to put it all away now…
I should really finish that Jabberwocky thing I started, but I’m too busy killing orcs and whatnot in Oblivion most of the time. Sigh. I really am a sad bastard sometimes…
Guess who’s back. Back again
My my, haven’t I been busy? Went to the Final Fling; the great big party for Warwick finalists. I had a great time, despite hardly seeing any of The Automatic and Hard-Fi. Lots of fun was had by all.
Then I came home, leaving lots of cleaning and stuff for my housemates. Tee hee. Now I am back at the ranch, chilling with my brand spanking new Xbox 360. I bought Oblivion, but it’s in French. So ‘m playing a bit of that and a bit of Pro Evo 6 while I wait for amazon to send me a nice ENGLISH copy of oblivion. Lovely. Then I will allow Elder Scrolls IV to take over my life for a while. After that, I’ll be off to graduate and such. Hoorah.
There was a massive storm a couple of nights ago. It was really really loud on the roof windows i my brothers room (where I was sleeping because my room was covered in dust sheets and whatnot). Hearing thunder and seeing lightning while inside is an experience in itself, but imagine back in the day when people lived in dodgy little shelters. Imagine being that close to the massive power of a thunder storm. It’s really no wonder that the god of thunder was often the king of the gods. Zeus, Thor, whatever was THE MAN!
Something else occurred to me today; zebra crossings are crazy. Buses stop to let you cross the road! Think about it; 65 kilos of weedy flesh and bone versus several tons of metal, glass and horsepower. Who will yield? Who would win in a fight? Yeah zebra crossings are crazy.
How to waste a weekend
So, this evening I’m going to eat a pizza, watch Bremner Bird and Fortune, then deliverance, and then go to bed. Tomorrow I’ll probably get up late, read through my notes and then add a thousand words to my essay on Hegel’s Phenomenology. After that I’ll probably mess around on the internet and then go to bed again. Except I’ll probably skip the part about reading notes and writing essay…
So far today I have done nothing of note except walk to sainsbury’s to buy milk…
I’m currently reading Ilium by Dan Simmons and playing Dynasty Warriors on the PSP. I’m listening to Youngblood Brass Band and the I (heart) huckabees soundtrack…
